The City of Calgary is celebrating the Original Peoples of Canada and what makes us Canadian at this year's Canada Day Get Together. Head downtown for all events, including learning more about Indigenous culture and a full day of music, entertainment and fireworks. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

Canada Day - Powwow
11:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Starting with a opening prayer, Grande Entry, flag bearers, dancers and resting of the flags.
11:30 a.m. – Prayer from Silksika Elder Clarence Wolfeg on the powwow stage
11:45 a.m. – Learn Metis Jigging with Bev Lambert, an educator, cultural facilitator, knowledge keeper and dance instructor. Catch her high energy as she teaches young and old how to jig on the stage and in the tent, east of the powwow circle.
1:00 p.m. – Grande Entry led by flag bearers followed by Indigenous Elder, City of Calgary and Fort Calgary sponsors, dignitaries and dancers
5:00 p.m. – Resting of the flags.
Canada Day Teaching Tipis & Trappers Tent
11:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Teaching tipis and trappers tent will be open to visitors at the Indigenous Showcase and Powwow, with six teaching tipis feature these topics for discussion and learning. Phyllis Webstad, the Founder and Ambassador of the Orange Shirt Society speaking from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. (fix!)

CBC Calgary Eyeopener’s Angela Knight will emcee the TD Canada Day Stage, fearing an all-Canadian line up of music from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. – Justine Tyrell, open the stage with Oh Canada followed by 45 minute performance.
4:00 p.m. – Mariel Buckley
5:00 p.m. – The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer

Children ages 3 – 12 and their families are welcome to enjoy a performance that will make them giggle and wiggle.

A blessing by Stoney Nakoda Elder Cindy Daniels, a moment of silence to recognize the children who died and are still missing after being taken to residential schools, and message from Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek will preceed the fireworks at 11:00 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from atop the Calgary Municipal Building. Watch live from anywhere with a view of the Calgary Municipal Building or watch the livestream.

Canada Day East Village Street Fair

EV Street Fair is a signature event attracting more than 25,000 visitors, with over 100 vendors, musicians and cultural performances. It’s no wonder this is Calgary’s destination event on Canada Day.
This one of kind event is a chance for all types of businesses and vendors to get exposure with the general public, local East Village businesses, and community leaders. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy our great city while having fun and learning all the great ideas, products, and businesses that are in our backyard.
Street vendors, food trucks, live music and cultural dancing. Local businesses are showcasing many unique goods and the community garden area will host face painters and balloon twisters, right beside our community playground and dog park. East Village is the gateway to Calgary’s cultural hub and the many recreational activities located in the Calgary’s core.

Celebrate Canada Day in the heart of Calgary's NW
Canada is turning 155 this year, and so celebrate with the largest Canada Day festival in the heart of Calgary's NW.
Join in for the first-annual BownessFest, taking place at Our Lady of Assumption School field to celebrate all that it means to be the true north, strong and free. The fun-filled day is expected to draw hundreds of attendees and will include free activities for the entire family and elements including:

- Food Truck Pavilion
- Free Family BBQ
- 20 square foot Birthday Cake
- Kids Activities
- Contests, Prizes + More
This year, BownessFest is partnering with the Veterans Association Food Bank of Calgary, to collect non-perishable food items from the community, with all proceeds going directly to local veterans in need.

Canada Day Celebrations July 1 in Banff

Celebrate in Banff on Friday, July 1st, 2022
The Town of Banff is the perfect place to celebrate Canada's birthday on July 1.
For July 1 this year, Banff is turning its Downtown Pedestrian Zone into an entertainment and activity space for Canada Day.
Rather than a parade, community participants will provide performances and displays dispersed throughout the pedestrian zone, easily accessed by strolling through downtown.
Performances and activities can be discovered throughout the day at these main locations:
- Banff Avenue Pedestrian Zone
- Bear Street and plaza
- Whyte Museum Grounds beside Bow Avenue
- Banff High School Field on Banff Avenue
Activities include a special Canada Day Market on Bear Street, games and activities for the whole family at the high school, storytime at the Banff Public Library, music and more at the museum grounds and Banff Avenue, and a pyrotechnic display to wrap up the day’s events.

Annual Running of the Millarville Races

The Annual Millarville Derby VIP experience will be hosted at the track on July 1st.
First race begins at 12 noon.
Join in for the annual Millarville Derby at the oldest running thoroughbred races in Canada.
Dress up in your own elegant take on “Derby Western” – there are no rules but expect fabulous fascinators will figure prominently. Canada Day in Cochrane

The Canada Day Community Festival at Mitford Park. In partnership with Cochrane Area Events Society, the Town of Cochrane is hosting jam-packed family festival to celebrate Canada’s birthday. Gates open at noon with a street festival and live music all day until 11:00 p.m.. Local stage entertainment throughout the entire day. There are plenty of childrens’ games and activities to enjoy such as facepainting, inflatables and much, much more. Food trucks will be on-site for your culinary delight, and Half Hitch Brewing Company is back with their beer gardens. Canada Day fireworks display at 11:00 p.m.
