New(ish) and/or Interesting Liquor Of The Week 2011
Each week a new product will be added that is either new to Alberta, or maybe just sadly overlooked and should be tried. To find who sells the products, click on the link at the bottom of the description.
01/03- Pumphouse Blueberry Ale, CSPC
727361; Retail: $12-$13 per 6 X 341 ml. bottles
Click above for more info.
The Pump House Brewery today is a group of beer brewing and bar/catering business, it was opened as a brewpub in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick in 1999 by the co-owners Shaun Fraser, a local fire department chief, and his wife Lilia, both have since won outstanding entrepreneurships for their remarkable success. They debuted in style on New Year's Eve with the first new beer of the Millenium. The Brewpub grew so popular that expansion was necessary. In July 2002, a brewing/bottling plant was built outside the city centre and production began in the same year.
The Blueberry Ale pours golden-orange with a fine white head. Aroma of fresh blueberries, blueberry bread (floury), crystallized sugars and pepper. Sweet flavors dominated by mild blueberries with a malty background. Sweet fruity aftertaste with hints of pepper. Light-medium body, creamy and refreshing.
Blueberry Ale is better enjoyed as an aperitif or with dessert. Keeping an open mind, it fits nicely with food plates which are slightly sweet in flavours (like some Cantonese dishes), or with any meat when served with a fruit based sauce (preferably blueberry).
Some nice pairings: Cheese cake (with or without fruits), crème Brulée, Wensleydale cheese with Blueberries. 5% alcohol

Search for almost any liquor product in Alberta.
Using the product searchers on this site, you can find detailed information about the liquor products available in Alberta. You can also see which liquor suppliers are currently carrying each product.
The directory includes wines, liqueurs, spirits (whisky, vodka, rum, gin, etc.), micro-brewed & regionally crafted domestic beer, and imported beer. No Big Rock, Molson's or Labatt's however.
Depending on your needs, you can use the product searchers on this site to:
· find out where you can buy any product in the directory by city or postal code.
The on-line product catalogue includes details like vintage, country of origin, alcohol content, container size, agent contact information, etc. There is no pricing information on the site, as retail prices vary from location to location. However, you can get an approximate price by emailing epicureancalgary@yahoo.ca and I will give you an estimated price.
How the Site Works
The CLS distribution centre’s one year sales history is used to determine which vendors are currently stocking a product. When you have found your product, you can specify your location and see which local liquor stores and other licensed outlets near you are currently carrying the product.
Because any liquor outlet or liquor store may sell out of any product, it’s important that you call ahead to the vendor to confirm product availability.
It is strongly urged you use adult beverage products responsibly.
Party Planning
The Alberta Government regulates the sale of liquor within Alberta and has regulations for the use of liquor.
