Artcity
Various Locations
All events are FREE
Artcity Festival is Calgary's annual celebration of visual art, architecture, and design. For 10 days each year, new artworks, installations, and projects are temporarily inserted into the urban landscape for discovery and engagement by ordinary citizens and interested parties.
Artcity produces an extensive amount of interpretive content as well, with lectures, podcasts, and educational tours dispersed throughout the exhibition schedule. All Artcity events are open to the public with free admission. The 18th annual Artcity Festival will take place September 10th to the 19th of 2010, under the thematic banner of "Boom or Bust".
Artcity is produced by the Visual Arts Week Society (VAWS), a non-profit, volunteer-run society dedicated to enhancing the public's experience and enjoyment of contemporary visual arts, architecture and design.
Artcity brings art and architecture into the spaces where the public lives and works. The organization recognizes the continually changing needs of artists and the nature of artistic presentation, and as such provides flexible exhibition opportunities to individuals and groups working in all (inter-) disciplines. The Festival opens possibilities in Calgary for conversations, debates and realizations about how and what artists, architects and designers do and how they see and shape the world around us. Chestermere Country Fair 2010
Chestermere Regional Communtiy Centre, 201 West Chestermere Drive, Chestermere, Alberta
Sneak-A-Peak September 17: 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Parade: 9:30 a.m. September 18
On September 9th 1989 the first Chestermere Country Fair was held. The idea of having a fair came from Helga Dressel and Ken Fraser. They believed this type of event would bring together the urban and rural roots of the community. And it has.
Over the years the Fun Country Riders have added to the festivities with their Gymkhana. The parades, dances, spaghetti eating contests, dunk tanks, 4-H demonstrations, heavy horse pulls, pet shows, wine and beer competitions, slow pitch tournaments, Red Ribbon Competition, and farmer’s market have made for even more fun, competition, and camaraderie. Chestermere is a unique community, and this Fair has been and will continue to be a unique feature of this lakeside, urban/rural community for many more years to come.

Battle Of The Badges Hockey
Max Bell Centre, 1001 Barlow Trail S.E.
6:00 P.M.
The Battle of the Badges Benefit Hockey Game. It’s a time where local heroes unite with legendary NHL players to bring the community together and entertain them with a good old fashioned hockey game. It’s a game where the score never really matters, and the real winners are always the beneficiaries that are helped from the proceeds. While winning is always nice, it is not the motivating factor behind Battle of the Badges. Instead, the true goal when the players hit the ice is to raise money for worthy local causes and provide the fans with a memorable game. The big success for these deserving charities depends on the generous support from the community and corporate sponsors. Teams from all over the country combined with some NHLers is a winning combination for these deserving charities. Enjoy Tyke Teams, getting autographs, winning prizes, picking up some souvenirs and meeting the players...in addition to helping great causes!

This prestigious awards event brings to a close Culture Month in Canada, and Alberta Arts Days with a reception, show and awards presentation, taking place September 27 at the Max Bell Theatre in EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts.
Surprise, stimulation and spontaneity define the event celebrating the interconnectivity and interdependence of business and the arts in Calgary.
